Alamo Mobile — cell service, local bill

Nationwide cell service sold, activated and billed by the same company that installed your internet — and available to any Texas address, not just where our towers reach. Here is what it costs and exactly which phones it works with.

Available now

Alamo Mobile is nationwide cell service sold, activated and billed by us rather than by a company you’ll never meet. One outfit for the internet at the house and the phone in your pocket, one invoice, and a real office in Elmendorf to walk into when something needs sorting out.

Two different maps matter here, and they are not the same size. We can set up a line for any address in Texas — mobile is not tied to the fixed-wireless footprint, so you do not have to be somewhere our towers reach, or be an internet customer at all. The phone then works nationwide, because it isn’t riding our network once it leaves the house.

The plan, and what it costs

There is one plan, not a tier chart to decode. $24.95 a month gets you, each month, 1,000 minutes, 1,000 texts and 5 GB of data at full speed.

When the 5 GB is gone, data stops. It is not slowed down, not “deprioritised”, not staged through a series of ever-worse speeds — it stops until you add more. Adding more costs $7 per gigabyte, whenever you want it.

We would rather tell you that plainly than sell you an “unlimited” plan that quietly turns to treacle in the third week, which is what the slowdown language on other carriers’ plans is hiding. The trade is that you have to notice: 5 GB is plenty for maps, messaging and music, and not much if you tether a laptop or stream video on the road. If you are the second sort of customer, budget for a refill or two and you will know exactly what the month costs.

There is also an introductory price of $19.95 a month, with virtually unlimited talk and text. Treat $24.95 above as the standard price, and ask us for the full introductory terms when you call — we’ll put the allowances in writing rather than leave them as a word.

Exactly which phones work

We issue eSIMs only — there is no physical SIM card. So a phone needs three things: it must support eSIM, it must be carrier-unlocked, and it must be running a recent version of its operating system. The models below are the ones the network supports.

Apple — iOS 18 or later

iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max · iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation) · iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max · iPhone 13, 13 mini, 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max · iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro, 14 Pro Max · iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max · iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max · iPhone 16e · iPhone 17, 17 Air, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max · iPhone 17e

Every iPhone on that list does eSIM, so the whole range works. iPads — Pro, Air, standard and mini — work on the models that support eSIM, and need their APN set by hand.

Google — Android 16 or later

Pixel 7, 7 Pro, 7a · Pixel 8, 8 Pro, 8a · Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 9 Pro Fold, 9a · Pixel 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL, 10 Pro Fold

Every Pixel on that list does eSIM too.

Samsung — Android 15 (One UI 7) or later, US factory-unlocked

Galaxy S: S26 Ultra, S26+, S26 · S25 Ultra, S25+, S25, S25 Edge · S24 Ultra, S24+, S24, S24 FE · S23 Ultra, S23+, S23, S23 FE · S22 Ultra, S22+, S22 · S21 Ultra, S21+, S21, S21 FE

Galaxy Z: Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7 · Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6 · Z Fold Special Edition · Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5 · Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4 · Z Fold 3, Z Flip 3

Galaxy A — only these five: A56 5G, A55 5G, A54 5G, A36 5G, A35 5G

Every Galaxy S and Z above does eSIM. The A-series is where it matters: those five are the only A-series phones that support eSIM, and the rest of the range — the A53, A34, A33, A25, A24, A23, A17, A16, A15, A14 and A06 — take a physical SIM only, so they cannot be used on Alamo Mobile. Samsung phones also have to be the U1 (US factory-unlocked) version; a carrier-branded handset is the single most common thing that goes wrong.

If your phone isn’t on the list, ring us before you assume either way. And because Android is Android, the network’s own list carries a caveat we’ll repeat honestly: meeting the requirements doesn’t guarantee every model behaves perfectly. We’d rather check yours than have you find out afterwards.

About your existing number

Keeping your current number isn’t available yet — it’s in development. We are not promising it, and you shouldn’t plan around it. Ask us when you call and we’ll tell you where it has got to rather than guess.

It goes on the bundle

A mobile line goes on the same invoice as your UnFiber® internet, AlamoBBTV and home phone — one bill from one company. See bundles for how the pieces fit together.

Where to start

Ring the office on 210-587-7201, Mon–Fri 9am–6pm, and we’ll set up your line. If your internet isn’t with us yet, check your address — mobile doesn’t need it, but the two go on one bill.

Mobile

Questions

When can I get it?

Now. Alamo Mobile went on sale on 1 October 2026. Call the office on 210-587-7201, Mon–Fri 9am–6pm, and we’ll get you set up.

What does it cost?

There’s one plan. The introductory price is $19.95 a month, with virtually unlimited talk and text; the standard price is $24.95 a month for 1,000 minutes, 1,000 texts and 5 GB of full-speed data each month. When the 5 GB is gone data stops rather than slowing down, and more is $7 per gigabyte. Ask us for the full introductory terms when you call, and about bundle pricing if the line is going on the same bill as your internet.

Whose network does it use?

Not our towers. Alamo Mobile is carried on a major national carrier’s network, so the coverage is nationwide — the phone in your pocket isn’t limited to our fixed-wireless footprint. What changes is who bills you and who answers the phone.

What happens when I use up the 5 GB?

Data stops. It isn’t throttled or slowed in stages — it stops until you add more, which is $7 per gigabyte and can be done whenever you like. Calls and texts are counted separately, against the 1,000 minutes and 1,000 texts you get each month.

Do I have to be in your internet area?

No. We can set up a mobile line for any address in Texas — it isn’t limited to the corner of Bexar, Wilson, Guadalupe and Atascosa counties where our fixed wireless reaches. The account has to be Texas-based; the phone itself then works nationwide, the same as any other.

Will my phone work on it?

Check it against the list on this page — it names the exact models that work. Three things matter: we issue eSIMs only, so the phone has to support eSIM; it has to be carrier-unlocked; and it has to be on a recent OS. Every iPhone, Pixel, Galaxy S and Galaxy Z on the list does eSIM, but most Galaxy A phones are physical-SIM only and can’t be used — only the A35, A36, A54, A55 and A56 5G. If it’s a Samsung it also needs to be the US factory-unlocked model; a carrier-branded one will fight you.

Can I keep my current number?

Not yet. Keeping your current number isn’t available — it’s in development. Nothing on this page should be read as a commitment that the number you have today will move across. Ask us and we’ll tell you where it stands.

Do I have to buy internet from you?

No, but that’s where the bundle comes in — a mobile line on the same invoice as your internet, TV and home phone. Ask about bundle pricing.
